Typical Marine Application Scenarios
1. Ballast Water System
As one of the most widely applied scenarios, the ballast water system transports sediment-laden seawater under normal temperature and low pressure. Concentric wafer-type soft seal butterfly valves with EPDM seals and 316L stainless steel or ductile iron valve bodies are primarily adopted to balance cost, corrosion resistance and sealing performance. Large-diameter main pipelines are equipped with double eccentric butterfly valves for enhanced stability.
2. Seawater and Fresh Water Cooling System
Affected by strong seawater corrosion and medium pressure, this system mainly uses double eccentric soft seal butterfly valves with aluminum bronze or 316L stainless steel valve bodies to ensure long-term stable heat exchange and cooling efficiency.
3. Bilge and Sewage System
Facing media containing oil stains and impurities, the system adopts concentric soft seal butterfly valves with oil-resistant NBR/EPDM seals, featuring good anti-fouling performance and convenient daily maintenance.
4. Marine Fire-fighting System
Requiring rapid emergency switching and reliable tightness, flange-type soft seal butterfly valves with epoxy-coated ductile iron are applied to resist pipeline vibration and ensure safe and efficient water supply in emergency situations.
5. Fuel and Lubricating Oil System
For flammable and explosive oil media, double eccentric metal hard seal or FKM soft seal butterfly valves are selected to meet fireproof, high-temperature resistant and safe cut-off requirements.
6. Ventilation and HVAC System
Lightweight concentric wafer-type butterfly valves are widely used for air volume regulation and pipeline isolation, thanks to their low flow resistance and space-saving installation advantages.
7. Special Extreme Working Conditions
Triple eccentric metal hard seal butterfly valves are applied to high-temperature flue gas and desulfurization systems, while food-grade sanitary butterfly valves are used for ship domestic fresh water systems to meet hygiene standards.
